"As an advocate for personal item-only travel, this bag hit all the marks. Small but spacious, well organized, and even lightweight. Looking forward to exposing this bag to many more parts of the world."
"I got this bag because I wanted to find a backpack that pressed the limits of what you could bring on a plane as a personal item and retained the characteristics of a suitcase (a sub-compartment specifically for clothes). I love the various different sub-storage areas within the backpack including a dedicated laptop sleeve and smaller pockets for items like keys and wallets. There's also a single water bottle sleeve that should be able to fit most bottle sizes. Bag is on the pricey side though at nearly $200 with tax. Having said that, my last Topo Designs backpack purchased in 2014 is still going strong in 2026 so I expect similar longevity with this one."
"I purchased this bag plus the companion roller suitcase for commuting between Denver and Phoenix for work and absolutely love them. The global travel backpack holds a large amount of clothes, computer items, plus gear and yet remains very compact and easy to carry. The compartments and functionality are off the charts. This is an incredibly well thought out bag! The price is reasonable for the quality and much less than some bags I was looking at. Plus, the workmanship and materials are all top quality and very durable. All in all, a fantastic purchase."
"At first when I received it I was shocked by how small it looked. I wanted a bag to fit under the seat on an airplane, so this is what I researched. I thought better then just returning it and tried it on a trip, then a flight. I can get about 2 days worth of travel necessities with this bag packed in cubes. The bag is well thought out with compartments that make traveling easy. I am happy with this purchase"
"Love the clamshell opening for packing. Handles are awesome, padded and wid, not just straps. Maxes out the two bag carry on strategy. Another terrific Topo bag!"
"I recently used this on international flights. Disclosure- Due to having to travel with prescription medications, I had to also check luggage. I cannot rate how this would work as an only luggage piece. I used this on the following airplane types- Airbus 319, Boeing 737-800 and Embraer 175. On the Airbus and Boeing planes it would have fit easily on its side or "taco-style" into overhead bins. It also easily stowed under the seats. The Embraer has smaller overhead storage but it still would have fit laying flat. It also stowed under the seat in the Embraer. This backpack also easily fits into the bins for the new TSA CT scanners. As with other Topo Designs products, the yellow liner makes it easy to locate small items that would normally blend into a dark background. The zippered mesh liner in the main compartment helps to camouflage items if you need to open your pack in a public space. The YKK zippers are definitely high quality. Also the large size of the zippers makes it very easy to open and close compartments. It also eliminates the problem of zippers snagging on the backpack fabric. I mainly carried it using the backpack straps and these were comfortable. The 3 carry handles also came in handy. Another high quality product from this company"
"The backpack is very high quality. It has a nice layout and is good for a weekend trip. The issue is the straps are very uncomfortable. It digs in your traps/shoulders. It only has a sternum strap and not a waist strap. I can’t wear it for too long. Hoping that it will break in and be more comfortable"
"The number one reason that I wanted a new bag was having a luggage passthrough aka trolley sleeve so that it can just slide over the handle of my roller bag and not be on my back all the time. It's a game changer. I also wanted a backpack that allowed me to fit as much as possible while still fitting under the seat in front of me and a bag that opened up like a duffle so that I was not left playing jenga trying to get at something at the bottom of a backpack. This bag ticks all those boxes and looks good too. It's the perfect complement to my carry-on roller. I can now do week-long work trips without any added friction from my gear. 10/10, recommend."
"about as large as a bag as you can get for under the seat to supplement a carry on roller or just go light for a weekend"
"This bag is an excellent travel bag. It's seperate compartments worked well for me, allowing me to seperate my clothes from my travel and work tech while still being accessible. Comfortable to carry and well built. Love the features."
