FAQs: Global Pro Series

What is the Global Pro Series?

The Global Pro Series is Topo Designs' premium adventure travel system for people who constantly move between work, travel, and the wilderness. The whole line functions as one complete travel kit, from briefcases to rollers. We built each bag with recycled technical fabrics, waterproof zippers, and modular features that make sense whether you're commuting to the office or boarding a flight to Buenos Aires.

The materials are chosen for durability, the pockets are positioned for actual use, and the design works anywhere. Office professional? Check. Backcountry explorer? Also check. World traveler? Big check. It's gear that adapts to any environment.

How is Global Pro different from the standard Global Travel line?

Global Pro refines everything that worked in our Global Travel line. You receive premium materials, custom metal hardware, and a restrained color palette (rather than our usual bright options). The difference shows in the details: heavier-duty fabrics, smoother zippers, and a quieter aesthetic overall.

Of course, Global Pro still handles daily versatility, like our other lines. But now it also handles board meetings, international terminals, and other situations where your gear makes an impression. Same Topo foundation, elevated execution.

So, if Global Travel is your reliable daily driver, Global Pro is the version you take to important places.

What is Dual Ripstop?

Dual Ripstop layers two different ripstop patterns into one fabric. The outer face is made of 105D recycled nylon with small woven ripstop threads. Underneath, we laminate an industrial-strength yarn ripstop (look at that diamond pattern) between the face fabric and the TAF coating. Two ripstop layers mean double the tear resistance without extra weight or stiffness. The fabric is flexible and soft while handling serious wear. Plus, it's 100% recycled and certified by Bluesign, Oeko-Tex®, and the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). Basically, we made fabric tougher by making it smarter, not thicker.

Are the Global Pro bags waterproof?

Weather-resistant, not waterproof. There's a difference. The Dual Ripstop fabric has high hydrostatic pressure performance and TAF coating, and we use waterproof YKK zippers throughout. Light rain, snow, splashes, damp conditions? Your gear stays dry.

That said, a minor drizzle probably isn't something you're worried about. It's the heavy stuff. Get caught in a torrential downpour in Seattle or accidentally drop the bag in the Thames? You'll want additional protection, like a rain cover or dry bags for electronics.

We designed our Global Pro bags for real weather that real travelers encounter, not laboratory submersion tests. They handle what nature typically throws at you without babying your stuff or making you paranoid about clouds.

Can I stack the Backpack, Briefcase, or Tote on the Roller bag?

Yes. Every bag in the line has a pass-through sleeve that slides over the roller's handle. That was an easy design choice. Look, we've all been there: juggling multiple bags while navigating crowds in busy train stations or airports. We created this system because juggling should be left to the professionals.

Using our system, you can stack your bags, secure them, and roll everything as one unit through airports or train stations. The sleeve holds everything stable, so you're not fighting shifting weight or slipping straps. One hand controls your entire travel kit. It's the kind of feature you don't think about until you're sprinting for a connection, and then you're very glad it exists.

FAQs: Global Pro Backpack

What storage features does the Global Pro Backpack offer?

Triple-compartment organization ensures a place for everything and everything in its place. An external padded laptop sleeve fits most 16-inch laptops, offering quick access that doesn't require unpacking your entire bag. An internal water bottle holder with external zippered access means you can hydrate without opening the main compartment. A padded back panel and sternum strap make loaded carries comfortable. A pass-through sleeve stacks it on roller luggage. Daisy chain webbing lets you attach jackets, fishing rods, or other gear externally. At 24L, you have room for a day's work gear or a weekend's adventure essentials without overpacking.

Who is the Global Pro Backpack designed for?

People who need one excellent backpack instead of three mediocre ones. Your weeks include office days, travel days, and trail days. You want gear that works for all of them without looking out of place anywhere. The professional style suits business environments. The weather-resistant construction and 24L capacity handle weekend trips and outdoor pursuits. It's for the outdoor professional who'd rather invest in quality gear that lasts than cycle through specialized bags that only work in narrow situations. One backpack for commutes, flights, hikes, and everything in between.

Global Pro

"Made an upgrade in Topo backpacks by getting the Global Pro after having the Rover Pack Tech. I love the fit and design of the Global Pro! The material is different, lightweight. The pockets and sleeves are perfect. The only thing I don’t like is the water bottle holder on the inside instead of outside."

Almost perfect

"I really like the Topo Global Pro backpack. The hidden laptop pocket is great and it keeps your computer separate from your water bottle in the internal bottle pocket in case it leaks. The one issue I've run into is this bag can be a bit top heavy. The location of the pockets means things like chargers and headphones may be in the top pocket creating some imbalance. Otherwise, it's a great daily bag!"

Best, well-researched purchase!

"I have been on the hunt for a backpack to replace my Topo backpack that I’ve had for 8 years. I was looking for a more sleek, work-appropriate pack and I couldn’t have chosen a better bag. It fits everything you need, even for flying, without being bulky and there’s a sneaky pocket for everything. So glad I finally pulled the trigger on buying it!"

Love the versatility & durability

"This is now my everyday backpack. I love the protection it gives my goods from all the elements Colorado brings when I’m out on adventures biking or hiking. The pack also has a removable chest strap which is a perk. Straps and back of pack are super comfortable for long hauling days."

Sam H. (5/5)

Fantastic backpack!

"Just got this backpack a few days ago and I love it. The dedicated laptop compartment is great but is a little tight. The internal water bottle holder and easily fits an Owala or Smart Water Bottle that you can access from inside the bag or out. I was skeptical about the yellow interior but it makes it VERY easy to find everything that I might've lost in the bottom of the bag. Great bag overall."

Great travel or everyday bag - worth the price tag

"I recently bought this bag for a work trip and absolutely loved it. The look and finish on the ripstop material is really cool - it feels sturdy, protects from the elements, and looks great. The different pockets on this bag are nice too. I have had a Klettersack since 2017 and a Rover Pack since 2018. While I love those bags, I always wished they had a few more dedicated pockets. The front and top pockets are great for small, easy to grab things, and the mess pockets in the main compartment are a huge upgrade. I like the lap top sleeve that is accessible from the inside and the side. My biggest complaint on my older Topo bags was the water bottle holder - they were essentially non-functional on the OG models (this has since been fixed on a newer Rover Pack I bought last year). The dedicated water bottle holder is great and nice that is accessible from both the outside and inside. The luggage pass-through is a bonus as well. Overall, I am very happy with the bag and feels like it will hold up well in the long haul."
